Crawl Space Encapsulation

We can help protect your home from high moisture levels!

Proactive dehumidification of a sealed crawl space is the only way to maintain a moisture-controlled environment and ensure desired humidity levels are present.

Let Golden Glove help you protect your home and family from high moisture levels that cause mold, mildew and wood decaying fungus. Let us seal your crawl space, vents, walls and floors to stop the moisture and reduce the humidity inside to the EPA recommended 30 – 50%. We can also add sump pumps and dehumidifiers as well as wireless monitors to verify the humidity levels in the crawl space at all times. Saves energy and reduces allergies and pest issues.

We offer a 25-year warranty.

Unfortunately, the fact that heat rises causes structures to have a natural, upward air-flow. This means that warm air in the upper areas of a building circulates upwards and draws the cool, moist air in the crawl spaces and basements into the primary areas of the building. The problem with this is that with that cool moist air, unwanted particulates can come up as well. This includes things like mold and mildew, and even radon gas. Taken in combination, these moisture-related problems present a major risk to any structure with a crawl space.

When it comes to wildlife and pest eradication, as well as preventing structural damage, moisture control is vital. Many residential and commercial structures have basements, cellars, or crawl spaces at the foundation level where moisture accumulates. When moisture is present, whether it is standing water, moist dirt floors, or a humidity level in excess of 40%, your home or business is in danger of:

Pest
Insects and other pests are attracted to moisture. Dirt floor cellars or basements provide an ideal site for infestation, and also give access to crawl spaces and other unseen areas of your structure. Spiders, termites, crickets, centipedes and just about every other pest are attracted to the constant temperatures and moist air associated with unprotected crawl spaces. Even worse, the presence of moisture and the environment it provides attracts vermin like mice and rats, as well as the animals that feed on them, like snakes.

Structural Damage

Moist spaces create the perfect environment for decay, and if you think that the block wall around your crawlspace prevents structural damage, think again; concrete retains and enhances moisture in the air. Accordingly, moisture will cause the wood located above your crawlspace to deteriorate and rot. Regardless of whether termites invade or other pests do damage, the high-moisture levels of an unprotected crawlspace will still weaken the structural integrity of your home or business over time.

IS MOISTURE CONTROL IMPORTANT?

YES! High moisture encourages wood decay, making it easier for pests to penetrate the wood and establish colonies. High humidity causes hardwood floors to cup and buckle and condensation caused by high humidity can cause major structural damage to joists and beams. Mold spores require moisture to grow and germinate every 12 hours. Mold colonization may occur within 1-12 days. The EPA recommends relative humidity between 30-50% to prevent mold growth.
