Carpet Cleaning and Protection

If your home features carpeting, it’s essential to implement proper maintenance to maximize its lifespan and preserve its cosmetic appeal. Golden Glove, with two decades of experience, proudly holds certification from the CRI (Carpet and Rug Institute), a testament to our expertise in this field.

Typically, people tend to clean their carpets solely for cosmetic reasons. However, relying solely on visual cues poses a challenge because the human eye cannot effectively gauge the accumulation of soil. By the time the carpet appears visibly soiled, it is often heavily laden with contaminants, which can lead to irreparable damage. According to CRI, individuals tend to clean their carpets every 3-5 years and, on average, replace them every 7 years. More often than not, replacement is prompted by the carpet’s diminished visual appeal rather than wear and tear. This can prove to be a costly undertaking. Proper maintenance can extend the life of your carpet by up to two times, adding an additional 14 years of use.

So, what does proper maintenance entail? By referring to the CRI website, you will find the most commonly recommended methods for carpet cleaning, with hot water extraction/steam cleaning being the overwhelmingly favored approach. This method represents the Golden Glove standard.

For Warranty Maintenance Cleaning, the following steps are essential, aligning precisely with Golden Glove’s practices, and serving as our basic cleaning protocol:

Pre-Vacuuming: As 78% of the soils in the carpet are non-water-soluble, pre-vacuuming is necessary before cleaning. The frequency of vacuuming should ideally match the number of occupants in the home. For example, a household with four people and a dog should vacuum five times a week.

Pretreatment: Approximately 16% of the soil in the carpet is water-soluble. Therefore, a proper pretreatment must be applied to the carpet, allowing for the correct dwell time to suspend these soils effectively.

Agitation: Agitation is a crucial step to further loosen and suspend the soils.

Spotting Agents: About 6% of soils in the carpet are solvent-soluble, such as food and drink spills. Maintenance cleaning requires the use of spotting agents. Some scenarios, beyond these categories, may necessitate additional steps. Examples include make-up, pet accidents, nail polish, and filtration soil lines, each with its own procedures and additional charges.

Rinsing: Suspended soils must be rinsed away with clean hot water, leaving the carpet free of residue.

Final Grooming: A final grooming of the carpet is performed to help minimize traffic patterns and expedite the drying process.

Furniture Moving: If the client requests furniture movement, additional charges apply based on the size and quantity of pieces. It’s important to note that certain items, such as beds, electronics, pieces with breakables, attached mirrors, or tall furniture, cannot be moved.

In cases with unique requirements, we offer tailored services:

  • Pet Hair Issue: We provide mechanical agitation, effectively removing pet hair deeply embedded in the carpet, surpassing the capabilities of standard vacuuming.
  • Carpet Protection: Consider adding Protectant to extend your carpet’s lifespan. This treatment creates a window of opportunity to clean up spills before they become stains and simplifies future cleanings.
  • Pet Accidents/Odors: For situations involving pet accidents and odors, we offer topical and subsurface treatments tailored to your specific needs.
